Considering getting iPad Pro primarily for digital art
As the title suggests, I'm thinking of getting the new iPad Pro for digital art, particularly Procreate.
It does seem stupid to get the iPad just for that, but tablets seems to be ideal for digital art. Would you guys recommend I get it? There is also the option of getting a decent gaming laptop (would like to play a few games since I'm going away for college) + a Wacom Tablet
What do you guys think?

For digital art, there'a nothing like an iPad. It doesn't seem silly at all to have an iPad for this purpose.
As for gaming, consider one of the cloud solutions. Get an iPad, an Xbox controller, and Stadia or Xbox Cloud.

You won't use it just for digital art but for everything except PC games (though you can use one those new game streaming services if you have the money and a good connection). At least that was my experience (and I only got it for digital art). I'm too lazy to power on the PC/notebook for stuff I can do on the tablet. I have a (displayless) wacom and I stopped using it when I got the iPad.
However, I do agree with the other user about not investing that much in something that is not your hobby already, if that is your case. Specially if it is going to be your only device.

I love my iPad Pro and Procreate is an amazing piece of software. A few tips: Procreate will auto generate a pallet for you based off an image you like the colors of. You can also used assisted drawing in the drawing guide function to mimic your strokes on the opposite side of whatever angle you want.

I got my 12.9, which is also my first ipad, for digital art primarily and I've had a very pleasant experience with it. I prefer it over the wacom tablet because it's portable and I like to use mine in bed, and I think the apple pencil experience is superior. Speaking of college, while iPads don't offer as many worthwhile games as a laptop, it's pretty darn good at taking notes with the apple pencil and that's something important to me, so maybe you should take that into consideration.

Unless you consider a cloud gaming solution.

I bought mine for drawing, design, and photo editing. It's a little meh on the latter two because the software and IOS hold it back, but it's seriously fantastic for digital art.

I absolutely recommend it. Before buying iPads for art, I used to use graphics tablets that you have to connect to the computer to use and over time it became a bit unwieldy and not very portable. Using an iPad to draw wherever you want is such a blessing.
As for other uses I also use it for light web browsing, typing docs on Google Docs, and video watching, which can be done just by buying a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse at not too much of an extra cost. Never really used it for gaming, tho.

I would never recommend anyone spending around $1000 to invest in something they've never done before. There's no guarantee that you'll actually stick with it and having wasted that much money for nothing. If you want to get into drawing, get the standard iPad+pencil for $400-$500. It's more than capable for any beginner and will support you way more than enough for your initial creative exploration. Way better than $900-$1300 for something extremely overkill for your needs. Once you've had the standard iPad for a few years and find limitations with it, upgrade accordingly. But it's your money, do whatever you want.

I totally recommend it. I'm a part time illustrator and have been using an iPad Pro 12.9inch 2nd generation for around a year. I like it a lot, however with money made from illustrating Im finally I'm upgrading to the new 5th gen pro. If money isn't an issue, go with the new one. If you aren't sure you want to invest right away, the budget iPad and the new iPad Air are both solid options that are a little more affordable.

I bought an ipad for drawing only and it's been an amazing experience so far. With a wacom tablet I always felt some discomfort, for example zooming in/rotating canvas wasn't as easy or convenient as I wanted it to be. My wacom is now like 15 years old tho, so perhaps they got better, but drawing on my ipad is a whole other level. Using gestures to zoom in/out, move canvas, resize selection, pick a color is just so so so convenient. And its honestly great to be able to draw right on the screen.
